Who we are

A globally recognized chapter, led by people who secure Philippine systems for a living.

The Cloud Security Alliance Philippines Chapter launched in 2017 to give the country a local home for cloud security knowledge. Our leaders and volunteers work across banking, conglomerates, government, telecoms, logistics, and technology providers. What we share is a belief that the Philippines can adopt the cloud quickly and confidently, as long as security and privacy keep pace.

We serve the local community and support government efforts to modernize public services securely. That means translating global frameworks into practical guidance, gathering practitioners to learn from one another, and helping the next generation of Filipino security professionals build recognized skills.

An official chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance

Our parent organization, the Cloud Security Alliance, is a not-for-profit founded in 2008. It defines and promotes best practices for secure cloud computing, and its research, certifications, and assurance programs are used by providers, customers, regulators, and auditors around the world. CSA has chapters on every continent except Antarctica, and the Philippines Chapter is one of many across Asia Pacific.

Our mission: to promote best practices for security assurance in cloud computing, and to provide education on the uses of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

What we do

Everything the chapter runs is vendor-neutral and volunteer-led. Our work falls into four areas.

Education

Talks, workshops, and study groups on cloud security fundamentals, zero trust, auditing, and the security of AI systems. We help local professionals prepare for CSA certifications and keep their skills current.

Community

Regular gatherings where CISOs, engineers, auditors, data protection officers, and students meet, compare notes, and build the professional network that makes everyone's job easier.

Advocacy

We engage with government agencies, regulators, and industry bodies on cloud adoption and data privacy, and bring a practitioner's view to policy conversations about cloud-first government and digital trust.

Research and guidance

We localize CSA's global research for Philippine conditions and contribute local insight back to CSA working groups, from cloud controls to AI safety.

Learn and certify

CSA publishes some of the most widely used cloud security frameworks and credentials in the industry. These are the ones our members ask about most.

Certification

CCSK

The Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge, launched in 2010 as the industry's first cloud security user certification. It's the benchmark for professional competence in securing cloud environments.

Certification

CCZT

The Certificate of Competence in Zero Trust covers the principles and practical steps for planning and implementing a zero trust architecture.

Certification

CCAK

The Certificate of Cloud Auditing Knowledge, developed with ISACA, is for auditors and risk professionals who need to assess cloud services against recognized controls.

Certification

TAISE

Developed by CSA and Northeastern University, the Trusted AI Safety Expert certificate prepares professionals to lead safe, secure, and responsible AI adoption in their organizations.

Framework

Cloud Controls Matrix

A cybersecurity control framework for cloud computing, mapped to major standards and regulations. Organizations use it to evaluate providers and to structure their own cloud security programs.

Assurance

STAR Registry

The Security, Trust, Assurance and Risk program is a public registry where cloud providers document their security posture through self-assessment, third-party audit, or continuous monitoring.

AI security

AI Controls Matrix and STAR for AI

CSA's newer work extends its cloud frameworks to artificial intelligence, giving organizations a way to assess and govern trustworthy AI systems, including autonomous agents.

Full details, study materials, and exam registration are on the Cloud Security Alliance website. Members can ask the chapter about local study groups and discounts.

Milestones and events

From a packed launch summit to intimate practitioner fellowships, here's how the chapter has grown.

  1. 2017
July 11 · Okada Manila, Parañaque City

    Inaugural CSA Philippines Summit

The chapter launched with a one-day summit that drew over 700 attendees, including nearly 300 C-level executives, government officials, and decision makers. More than two dozen technology companies and start-ups exhibited, and around 20 sessions covered cloud adoption, data center security, ransomware, compliance, IoT, and data protection. The National Privacy Commission and the Department of Information and Communications Technology shared the government's view on cloud and privacy.

  2. 2020
    Online, with CSA Asia Pacific

    CSA Philippines Virtual Summit

As the pandemic pushed organizations onto the cloud overnight, the chapter moved its summit online. Local leaders from the private sector and government discussed securing rapid digital transformation.

  3. 2021
    Online

    CSA Philippines Summit 2021

The summit series continued, focusing on cloud security assurance and education for a workforce that had become remote and cloud-dependent.

  4. 2026
March 7 · Manila Yacht Club

    Community Exchange and Fellowship

An invitation-only gathering of information security professionals and cloud security advocates from across industries. Discussions centered on how AI and cloud computing together are changing work and security, from AI agents that run continuous penetration testing to the governance foundations organizations need before deploying autonomous systems.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Cloud Security Alliance?

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) is a global not-for-profit that defines and raises awareness of best practices for secure cloud computing. It brings together practitioners, companies, associations, and governments to produce vendor-neutral research, education, certifications, and assurance programs.

How is CSA Philippines related to the global CSA?

We're an officially recognized chapter. Chapters are run locally by volunteers and coordinated with CSA worldwide and CSA Asia Pacific, so our programs reflect global standards while focusing on Philippine needs.

Do I need to be a security professional to join?

No. Members include developers, IT managers, auditors, data protection officers, educators, and students. If you work with or care about the cloud, you're welcome.

Is there a membership fee?

Joining the chapter is free and open to anyone interested in cloud and AI security. Some events may have a registration fee to cover venue and meal costs. Individual membership in the global CSA is a separate option with its own benefits, listed on the Cloud Security Alliance website.

Can the chapter help my organization prepare for STAR or a cloud audit?

The chapter doesn't sell consulting services, but our events and community are a good place to learn how others have approached the Cloud Controls Matrix, STAR, and cloud audits, and to find qualified professionals.

Where can I take the CCSK or other CSA exams?

CSA certification exams are taken online through the Cloud Security Alliance. Contact us to find out about local study groups or upcoming training.
